The Historic BAL Theatre was built in 1946, and is one of America's only surviving theatre's still operating today that has never been shutdown. The Historic BAL Theatre has been continually operating since its opening day, July 3, 1946. The Historic BAL Theatre is the East Bay's home for Public & Private Family Entertainment, Special Events, Fundraisers, Live Music, Comedy, Lectures, Magic, Documentaries, Sci-Fi & Horror Films, Foreign films, Independent films, Silent films, Classic films and so much more.
The Dillmans are the current owners and operators of the Historic BAL Theatre here in San Leandro California. They purchased the theatre in 2008 and have been working very hard to restore and keep the theatre alive "on our shoe string budget" for the community and for their love and passion for Vintage Theatres. The Family is constantly helping others with fundraisers and producing community events at the Theatre, but now they need your help so they can keep the Theatre alive and running as they continue to save and restore the theatre. The Theatre has 800 seats to restore, original murals that need to be preserved, and so much more. The Dillmans are seeking your support in their effort to restore The Historic BAL Theatre to it's original slender and rightful place as the Beacon of Hope, family Entertainment and Change in the City of San Leandro.
They are first hoping to raise a minimum of $500,000 with a greater goal of $5,000,000 to help with the continued restoration projects, maintenance and upgrades of the theatre and its equipment. The funds will also be used to help cover any legal fee's that may arise from defending the Theatres grandfathered rights to host live entertainment, movies, comedy, lectures and so much more.
The Historic BAL Theatre was built in 1946 by Rene T. LaMarre. Rene T. LaMarre and George Drummond built The Historic BAL Theatre out of their love and passion for live entertainment, movies and so much more.
